 Meet the Superintendent

 

Katie Spinos is meeting with parents of elementary students on Monday, March 19th in the School Committee Room at BHS from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.  Come discuss any concerns regarding the budget for next year, curriculum, homework, MCAS etc.  For example, there are some particular concerns regarding a reduction in the music program for 4th & 5th grade as well as reduction in technology (computer/media) in all schools!!  This is an open forum and all are invited.  Hope to see you there!

 

Next PTO Meeting

 

Wednesday, March 21, 2007 – 7:00 – 8:30 pm Art Room

 

We will be discussing the future of the PTO.  Three board members are leaving and need to be replaced.  The following positions are open for next year:   co-president, co-secretary and vice president.  The PTO needs parents to step in so we can provide essential support to Francis Wyman and its students, including field trip buses, author visits, the artist in residence program, MCAS snacks, and scholarships.  We will also talk about the visiting authors, the upcoming carnival and the new SCRIP program – Can it take the place of our spring fundraiser?  This is your PTO – we hope to see you there!!!  

 

Bring another FW parent and share the ride!!!

 

 

 Volunteer Opportunities

 

1.  The Teacher Appreciation lunch is being planned for Monday, May 7th.  We are looking for a person or two who would be able to coordinate the parent volunteers for lunch and recess coverage and the food.   Last year, the teachers really appreciated the chance to sit down and enjoy the dishes people brought in.

2. The 5th Annual Francis Wyman Family Carnival is Saturday, March 31st from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Volunteers are still needed to help run the games and make raffle baskets.  There will be a separate volunteer sheet going home asking for cakes for the cake walk.

Magazine Drive

 

The deadline has been changed to Friday, March 17th.  Need to renew any magazine subscriptions?  This program provides 1-2 subscriptions to each classroom.  The number of subscriptions per class is determined by how many subscriptions are renewed or newly purchased.

 Volunteer “On-Call” List

 

We are still looking for parent volunteers who would like to help but don’t have the time available to sign up to be on or run a committee.  Fill out the “On-Call” form on the PTO website (www.burlington.mec.edu/fw), PTO Home Page, Downloadable Forms) to be put on a rotating list.  Names will be called in order for different needs.  If it fits your schedule, say “yes,” if it doesn’t fit your schedule, say “no” and your name goes to the bottom of the list to be called at another time.
